IMG CEO Selected as One of L.A.’s Commercial Real Estate Visionaries
WOODLAND HILLS, CA — May 15, 2022 — The Los Angeles Times has selected Neil Schimmel, Founder & Chief Executive Officer of Investors Management Group, as one of the city’s “Commercial Real Estate Visionaries.” Mr. Schimmel was profiled in the Los Angeles & Orange Counties Commercial Real Estate: Trends, Updates and Visionaries magazine.
The annual issue honors noteworthy CRE professionals for their “successes and accomplishments during the last 24 months, as well as their exemplary leadership within their organizations and communities across Southern California.”
Neil Schimmel’s national real estate investment platform focuses exclusively on apartment communities in emerging U.S. markets. Over the last decade, Neil has closed more than $1.4 billion in transactions reflecting more than 11,000 multifamily units. Portfolio sales have delivered an average 27% IRR to its network of over 1,000 individual accredited investors.
The LA Times highlighted Neil’s reputation as a “silent support” in the lives of countless others. Principal & Co-President Karlin Conklin adds that “IMG’s breakthrough growth is a direct result of Neil’s hands-on leadership style. When he walks through an apartment community, he’s focused on innovative improvements that will positively benefit our tenants. Our investors value his consistency in our ‘IPA’ value-add acquisitions. Not only do they have predictable, risk-adjusted returns, they have peace of mind with their investments— especially noteworthy given the recent market disruptions.”
“Neil has formed a remarkable staff that navigates complex transactions, requiring careful coordination and collaboration with legal experts, third-party operators, brokers, 1031 exchange accommodators, lenders, and CPAs,” said Marc Gordon, IMG Principal, Co-President & CFO. “His level of professionalism and integrity is reflected across the entire company.”
This marks the second consecutive year in which IMG has been in the national spotlight as a visionary investment firm within the commercial real estate industry. GlobeSt selected IMG’s Communications team for an award honoring the firm’s achievements in developing online investment portal technology and for driving participation in multifamily syndications to reach a more diverse base of investors than ever before.
According to the LA Times, IMG has “long followed a signature strategy of buying intrinsic value at an attractive price per pound in dynamic locations that are affordable for renters.” In the last year, Schimmel’s Woodland Hills-based firm has more than doubled its national transaction volume following this ‘IPA’ strategy.
The firm is targeting over $500M in total acquisitions by the end of 2022.
