Building relationships is one of the hallmarks of Investors Management Group, and the latest IMG Northwest Client Appreciation Event at BridgePort Brew Pub illustrated just that, bringing together investors, developers, lenders, service providers, and long-time friends.
Featuring Christian Kaylor, Economist with the State of Oregon, Neil Schimmel, CEO of Investors Management Group, Inc. and Steve Morris, Vice President of IMG Northwest, the program offered insights from multifamily investors both nationally and in the Pacific Northwest region. These expert panelists offered attendees a snapshot of the 2017 economic climate both locally and nationally, with perspectives ranging from boots-on-the-ground to 100-feet-up coming from both the investor/owner and tenant side.
The program’s moderator, Karlin Conklin, IMG’s Executive VP of Private Equity and IMG Northwest’s Principal and Managing Director, has more than 15 years of experience in multifamily real estate and has transactional volume exceeding $1.0 billion. She and the panelists together emphasized the region’s strong key indicators along with the advantages of investing in multifamily housing. They suggested a best course of action in the current market: sell into a strong market, take advantage of interest rates (prior to the next expected rate increase), and diversify your portfolio.
Panelist Christian Kaylor offered an economist perspective, sharing the latest statistics on local job growth, including:
- Portland enjoyed the second fastest job growth rate among the 35 largest US cities (2013-2015). That’s more than twice the growth rate of the United States.
- The city of Portland added 42,062 jobs within the city limits (2013-2015). That’s more than Salt Lake City, Las Vegas and Milwaukie combined.
- College Graduates of Working Age: Portland’s growth in this demographic is more than Indianapolis, Milwaukie and Minneapolis combined (2010-2015)
“Thank you so much for the wonderful event you put on last night. It was great to see you both in person and to be reconnected with so many of my own great clients!” said Patti Cordon, Senior Multifamily Loan Consultant at Chase Bank. “Good food, good info- Made me very glad to have the opportunity.”
Attendees of the June 14th event, sponsored by Investors Management Group, Inc., reflected the comprehensive list of services the company offers. “It was refreshing to have such a varied mix of different people represented in the room,” said Randall Realty Corporation’s Steve Mozinski.
